From what I can te?, it’s the same for all of Santa Fe Every summer, local organizations and promoters bring it, with a huge season of affordable or free concerts, music series and festivals And every year, Santa Feans show up en masse to prove summer is about enjoying the warm evenings with family and friends, and crarnming in as much fun as you possibly can before it’s back to the fireplace for another long, cruel winter

So here are a few of the must-attend series and festivals coming our way, along with a handful of great shows (at the bottom) you don’t want to miss And this is just the beginning: For more events, check out the Summer Guide calendar (pages 40-41) and, of course, SFR all summer long

Santa Fe Bandstand 2010

Founded in 1995 to provide free music to shelters, nursing homes, prisons and more, Outside In Productions in 2002 branched out to produce the Santa Fe Bandstand 2010 The series is a hit for both music lovers and musicians For the former, we get to soak up six free shows a week in the downtown sunshine and summer evening air For musicians, the series offers both local and national acts an enthusiastic audience on one of the most unique stages in town For its 8th season, Outside In’s lineup is something to anticipate

5th Annual Music on the Hill

Celebrating its 5th season, the Music on the Hill summer concert series at St John’s College looks to be a seriously jazzy affair with performances by jazz composer and pianist John Rangel and popular vocalist Joan Kessler You also can expect Caribbean reggae from Frank Leto and Latin soul from the Nacha Mendez Quartet Catering will be provided by Walter Burke, but homemade picnics and even adult drinks are welcome Last year’s series drew somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,600 concertgoers, and more than ample parking will be provided for this year’s festivities Thanks to Music on the Hill, every Wednesday through July is transformed into a magical evening of music, food and fun That’s right – magical

Father’s Day Fiesta

Dad put up with your crap when you were a punk kid and loves you when you treat him poorly Get hip to your dad and take him out to celebrate, as Fan Man Productions, Reel Fathers and Young Fathers of Santa Fe present the 1st Father’s Day Fiesta in the Railyard Park In addition to food vendors, a climbing wall and a lowrider show, Felix y los Gatos and Dikki Du and His Zydeco Krewe will be on hand with rockin’ zydeco jams
